Football: A simple and crazy sport

Football is a game where 22 people chase a ball for 90 minutes, and the Germans win in the end (just kidding). But seriously, it may be the most popular sport in the world, because——

1. Anyone can play
- You don’t need a luxurious stadium, you can just put two bricks at the entrance of the alley as a goal and play.
- Professional players are worth hundreds of millions, but children from slums can become superstars barefoot (such as Neymar and Ronaldo).

2. It makes people cry and laugh
- Your team is leading one second, and then it is defeated the next second, and the mentality explodes directly.
- When the World Cup is won, the whole country celebrates; when losing, even the president comes out to apologize (such as Brazil lost to Germany 1-7 in 2014).

3. More exciting than TV dramas
- There are counterattacks (such as Liverpool fell behind 0-3 in the 2005 Champions League final, and finally turned the tables).
- There are dog blood (such as Messi and Barcelona fell out, Ronaldo and Manchester United tore each other apart).
- There are even magical creatures like "football hooligans" (British fans: blame me?).

4. Global universal language
- You don't need to know Spanish, but as long as you shout "Messi!", Argentines will immediately high-five you.
- During the World Cup, even people who don't usually watch football will suddenly become "football experts".

5. Metaphysical sports
- Strong teams don't necessarily win (for example, the German team has always been upset recently).
- When weak teams are upset, the whole country will have a holiday to celebrate (for example, Iceland defeated England in the 2016 European Cup).
- The referee's misjudgment can make the whole country angry (for example, in 2010 England VS Germany, Lampard's goal was hacked).

Summary
Football is-
When winning: We are the champions! ⚽🎉
When losing: The referee whistled! The coach was fired! 😡
Usually: Hurry up and see who is playing tonight! 📺

(Finally, whether you are a real fan or a fake fan, as long as you shout loudly enough when watching the game, you are one of them!)

  1. I really enjoyed reading your post, Roy! You explained football in such a fun and relatable way, especially when you said it’s “more exciting than TV dramas”—that part made me laugh but also really made sense. One thing that stood out to me is how you showed football is more than just a game—it's cultural, emotional, and even political sometimes. It made me think about how sports can unite people across languages and borders, and even influence national pride.
